Visit to Nijoloy Home, Madhyamgram
In keeping with Urjo's philosophy of 'Bhalo Theko, Bhalo Rekho' ( Stay well, keep others well) , we at Urjo, always strive to share our joy and happiness with the underprivileged, especially elderly ladies and children, more so during the festive season. After our visits to Apanghar Briddhawas(old age home) and Aashiyana Happy Home( for homeless children) before Durga Pujo, seven Urjo members visited Nijoloy Home at Madhyamgram, a home for rescued trafficked and orphaned girls, to share our joy and happiness with the girls before Diwali. We had a lovely time there.
We donated saris, bags and clothes, to be used as a part of wedding trousseau. There are seperate staying arrangements....One for girls upto 18 years and the other for girls beyond 18 years. There is another building for vocational training of girls to make them financially independent in future. One floor was dedicated to screen printing and block printing of saris and scarves. The first floor had the tailoring unit where bags and dresses were being stitched and the second floor had the spices section. Our members purchased beautiful items and spices made by the girls. An old age home for elderly ladies is under construction and should be ready by mid 2023. We discussed about projects which Urjo could do there....Health Camps and Ayah Training for Geriatric patients (after the inauguration of the old age home).
