13th January 2021

Workshop on Basics of Banking A workshop via zoom was organised on Basics of Banking. Mrs Nilima Mukherjee, an ex-banker and member of Urjo Executive Committee, was the facilitator of the workshop. It was attended by both members as well as non-members and focused on FAQs on doing various forms of banking transactions, formalities for taking loans etc.

26th February 2021

Urjo donated grocery during the Covid 19 pandemic to people of West Bengal in collaboration with Feed India.

6th & 20th March 2021

A meeting of the members was held on 6th and 20th March 2021 after a gap of one year, post lockdown due to pandemics. Members shared valuable insights gained during pandemic and shared ideas and thoughts on next year's activities. In addition, members celebrated International Women's Day and shared stories which matched with the theme of 2021 which was Choose To Challenge.

Every 10th Day of the Month Urjo members used to visit Brahmakumaris centre for meditation. During COVID times Urjo roped in Brahmakumaris for online session of yoga and meditation. Brahmakumaris conducted sessions 3/4 times a week for Urjo members for their mental health and wellbeing. These sessions benefitted the members greatly.

8th March 2021

Urjo organised a Webinar to celebrate International Women's Day.  The topic focussed on true inspirational stories and  external speakers were invited to speak.

The speakers were as follows:
1. Ms. Archana Dighe – A non-member who is a HR trainer and also heals people through holistic therapies.She spoke of her challenges as a single mother and howshe overcame them.

2. Ms. Lina Bardhan– A non-member who is a Rehabilitation Psychologist and runs Noble Mission, a school for differently abled children. She spoke of how shewas discriminated as a girl child and how she overcame it and challenges she faces now while running the school.

3. Ms. Nilima Mukherjee–An Urjo member and an ex banker. She spoke of challenges she faced in her workplace and how she dealt with them.

4. Ms. Sarmistha Niyogi – An Urjo member and an Economist. She recited her own poem which focused on the atrocities happening due to the mindset of Indians and how this needs a radical change to bring about women empowerment.

There was a lively Question Answer Session after the presentations conducted by Dr Ratnabali Chakravorty, Founder Member of Urjo and Senior Consultant, Obstetrics & Gynaecology.

This programme was very well received and was a resounding success with more than 70 people joining the webinar. It received very good feedback.

15th March 2021

Urjo celebrated Women’s Day with Apanghar Mashimas.Counselling Session at Apanghar jointly conducted by Urjo and Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM). This programme on “Well Being of Elderly “ was held on 16th March 2021. The counselling session was on mental health, social security, yoga and games related to senior citizens conducted by students of SIBM with Urjo providing logistical and infrastructure support. It was a very useful session for Boarders of Apanghar and they enjoyed participating in the games and quiz. Snacks was also organised by Urjo.

19th March 2021

20th March is a UN designated day dedicated to the "importance of happiness in people's life" With the above objective in mind, on 19th March, 2021, Urjo celebrated the day with a very poignant programme with especially abled children of Noble Mission School. The students felicitated Urjo members and entertained us with excellent performances of dance, music and recitation. It was a memorable experience for Urjo Members. Urjo sponsored food packets for the students, parents and teachers.

21st March 2021

Urjo members celebrated World Poetry Day via a zoom meeting. Two members recited their own poems which included a poem on Urjo's contribution towards betterment of one's life. This elicited positive response from members and a discussion followed on Urjo's way forward. Three members recited famous Bengali and English poems. There was also a video of Amitabh Bachhan's recitation of an inspiring Hindi poem penned by Harivansh Rai Bachchan, his father.

7th & 21st April 2021

Urjo celebrated World Health Day by getting seven mashimas of Apanghar vaccinated (first dose). The remaining seven boarders were vaccinated on 21st April, which was a difficult day with vaccination been done in two phases, morning and afternoon, due to paucity of vaccines

28th April 2021

A Fund Raising Drive was conducted on 28th April, 2021 by Urjo. It sent out an appeal to all its members, their relatives and friends for donations in order to raise funds for its covid related work. It received an overwhelming response and Rs 80,000 approximately was raised in a few days. Urjo would remain eternally grateful to its donors for such a spontaneous and generous response. It helped Urjo immensely in continuing with its activities during the pandemics.

28th April, 8th May & 21st May

Urjo received an appeal from Mataji of Ramakrishna Sarada Mission (RKSM) Matri Bhavan, near Kalighat, on 25th April, 2021, for donation of Sanitizers, PPE kits and medicines.

7th May 2021

Apanghar requested for Sanitizer, Vitamin C tablets and Surgical Masks which were delivered on 7th May, 2021.Besides, Urjo continued with its monthly support to the Boarders with milk and other grocery items.

6th August 2021

Urjo & Kolkata Menopause Society and Inner wheel club conducted a Health Camp at Apanghar Briddhawas. Blood test , BMD and physical check up were done and Calcium and Iron tablets were distributed.

5th & 14th July & 26th August 2021

Six mashimas of Apanghar were fully vaccinated on 5t July and the rest on 14th July . They took their 2nd dose at Apollo Behala. The hospital had good arrangements and the vaccination drive went off very smoothly. Urjo also vaccinated eight needy persons on 26th August, as a part of Urjo initiative of Covid Vaccination drive.

12th August 2021

Urjo in partnership with AIWC contributed to the painting and renovation of Apanghar Briddhavas.

26th November, 2021

Some members from Urjo visited an Orphanage in Haridevpur run by Samparc, an NGO. We distributed chocolates and cakes among the 26 kids and also donated a few grocery items to the Orphanage. The kids entertained us with impromptu songs recitals and recitation.

26th December 2021

Some Urjo members visited Ashiyana Happy Home, a home for the homeless, in Madhyamgram and distributed grocery and study materials.
