Eye checkups and Cataract Surgeries for Apanghar Residents:
24.01.2019: An eye check-up for cataract surgery was arranged for 4 needy residents of Apan Ghar at Sri Satya Sai Seva Kendra in Kasba. Urjo members took the ladies for their checkup. As per doctor’s advice blood tests and ECG were also taken care of by Urjo to check their suitability of surgery.
07.02.2019: Three residents of Apan Ghar had successful cataract surgery on 7th February, 2019 at Calcutta Lions Bimal Podder Eye Hospital located on Manohar Pukur Road, South Kolkata. The fourth resident was advised to take a second opinion and visit the Eye Hospital again on
28th February; 2019.The members of Urjo were there throughout to handhold the patients and take them through the entire process including the follow up for the next day.
08.03.2019: Post-operative eye checkup for power correction was done for the 3 operated residents of Apan Ghar. Urjo members took care of the checkup and new spectacles.

Other Activities at Apanghar
31.07.2019: Urjo sponsored a cockroach treatment program at Apan Ghar by Godrej Hicare Services Pvt. Ltd. The service was to be done thrice in a year.
03.08.2019: Godrej Hicare Services Pvt. Ltd also started a termite treatment program at Apan Ghar. The service was sponsored by Urjo to be done thrice a year.
07.08.2019: Along with the monthly groceries, Urjo also donated 17 mosquito nets for Apan Ghar. The mosquito nets were bought by the members.
09.09.2019: Three wrought iron beds were donated to Apan Ghar.
14.11.2019: Urjo donated a kadai and a utensil rack to Apan Ghar upon their request. Monthly groceries continued to be supplied to Apanghar.

Free Medical Checkup at Apanghar
05.02.2019: A free medical checkup was organized by Indian Menopause Society (IMS) at Apan Ghar. Dr. Nirmala Pipara and Dr. Bipasha Sen conducted the checks up and Urjo members were present to give them support. Calcium Tests were done free of cost. 13 residents and 3 staff members were examined and free medicine was distributed based on their ECG reports which had been done earlier and examination by IMS doctors.
Celebrations at Apanghar and Ekante, Old Age Homes
05.04.2019: Basanta Utsav was celebrated at Ekante Old Age Home by Urjo members with singing, danching, “abir khela” and refreshments
20.04.2019: Bengali New Year or “Noboborsho” was celebrated at Apan Ghar Old Age Home. There was cake cutting and a return gift distribution. Drawing materials were also distributed amongst the boarders. The Bengali movie “Sare Chuattar” was screened. Packed lunch was served for the boarders.
14.08.2019: On the occasion of Rakhi Purnima, Urjo organized Rakhibandhan Utsab at Ekante as well as Apan Ghar. Members visited the old age homes and the occasion was celebrated with tying of Rakhi, songs and food packet distributions.
04.11.2019: As done every year, Urjo organized a Bijaya Sammelani at Ekante Old Age Home. The occasion was celebrated with cultural performances and distribution of snacks among the inmates.

AGM & Fund Raising Programme
19.06.2019: The annual general body meeting and fundraising program was organized at Rabindra Okakura Bhawan, Salt Lake. For the fundraising program, a cultural evening was organized. Tickets were sold for the same. Ekante and Apan Ghar Old Age Home residents were invited for the event. The event began with songs and yoga demonstration by members of Urjo North followed by talks by people from Ekante and Apan Ghar. Urjo South presented a narration based drama on the various protagonists of Rabindranath Tagore’s plays entitled 'Rabi Srijone Nari' which was performed by our members as well as other dignitaries. It was followed by a Shruti Natok by Dr. Ratnabali Chakravorty, Smt. Ratna Mitra, Dr. Basu Deb Mukherjee and Sri. Shyamal Gan. The event concluded with felicitation and vote of thanks.
Rakhi Purnima at Ekante Old Age Home
14.08.2019 On the occasion of Rakhi Purnima, Urjo organized Rakhibandhan Utsab at Ekante as well as Apan Ghar. Members visited the old age homes and the occasion was celebrated with tying of Rakhi, songs and food packet distributions.
Independence Day Celebration
15.08.2019: On the occasion of Independence Day, Urjo visited a school for the orphans, Sahid Smriti Prathamik Vidyalaya, near Peerless in South Kolkata. The program began with flag hoisting. Urjo participated in the tree plantation ceremony and distributed food packets to the children.
Durga Pujo Celebration
13.09.2019: On the occasion of Durga Pujo, Apan Ghar boarders were gifted Sarees by Urjo.
03.10.2019: On the occasion of Maha Panchami, a Pujo Porikroma and celebration was organized by Urjo for the boarders of Apanghar. Car was provided for the boarders of Apan Ghar who wore the new sarees given by Urjo. As all Apan Ghar members are old, we could only visit two South Kolkata Pandals with them. Lunch and Dinner was sponsored by Urjo. The menu consisted of pulao, mutton and chutney as per the likings of Apan Ghar boarders. All the residents of Apan Ghar enjoyed themselves wholeheartedly.

Diwali Celebrations
21.10.2019: For Diwali, URJO went ahead with a "Sharing the Warmth Program" in collaboration with the Entally Shri Gandhi Education and Welfare Society and distributed clothes to forty-five families
Activity at Calcutta Orphanage
20.12.2019: Urjo visited Calcutta Orphanage, one of the oldest orphanages in Kolkata, to celebrate Christmas. Urjo members made paper bags which were used to pack Christmas goodies for the children. All the items were donated by Urjo members. The items included chocolates, cakes, chips, biscuits, pens, toothbrush and toothpaste, soap, shampoo, boroline and body lotion. Urjo members interacted with the children and the goodie bags were distributed. A menstrual hygiene awareness talk was given by Dr. Ratnabali Chakravorty for the girls of the orphanage. The girls also performed impromptu dance and recitation for the members.
Picnic for Apanghar Mashimas
22.12.2019: Urjo organized a picnic along with fun games and antakshari for the Apan Ghar residents. The picnic was held in the farm house of our member, Ms. Reshma Midhya.The residents were happy to take part in the picnic.
Other Activities
12.01.2019: Cardiac screening, blood pressure, blood sugar and lipid profile test were conducted for 40+ women at Saltlake by Kolkata Menopause Society where Urjo members along with others participated.
01.02.2019: The Annual Picnic of Urjo was held.
15.02.2019: Urjo members participated for an awareness talk on the health of menopausal women at the Annual Conference of Indian Menopause Society (IMS) at ITC Sonar. A Yoga demonstration was also presented by Urjo members.
