Free Pediatric Medical Camp for Homeless Children

Urjo conducted its second event for Puja, a Free Pediatric Medical Camp for homeless children (upto 15 years) at *SOS Village, Salt Lake,on Tuesday, 3rd October, 2023, 4pm onwards. The highlights of the event were as follows:

1. Dr Sutapa Konar, a pediatrician of repute (and volunteering for Urjo's Health Camps) conducted the paediatric check up. Twenty one girls and boys ( below 15 years with majority being girls) were checked by Dr Konar and free medicines were distributed. The common ailments were anaemia, dental problems, cough and cold, being underweight and bed wetting.

2. Dr Ratnabali Chakraborty, Urjo's founder member and Ex President and an eminent gynaecologist, conducted an Awareness Session on Menstruation and Menstrual Hygiene. There were approximately 30 participants, comprising of girls and their adoptive mothers. After the session, Dr Chakraborty gave consultation to four girls on their gynae problems.

3. Dr Alok Roy, an eminent dermatologist, did consultation for twelve children, mostly suffering from fungal infection, dandruff and cosmetic problems like pimples and white spots.

4. Smt Chandra Chatterjee, Urjo's donor from Canada , attended the event. She was very impressed with Urjo's activities and to quote her…'Urjo is doing very good work where it is needed most. Very impressive.'
