On 23rd December, 2024, two members of Urjo visited mashimas of Apanghar. They spent quality time with the mashimas and distributed Christmas cakes and other goodies. On 24th December, 2024 another member visited Apanghar and spent quality time with mashimas.
Health Camp was conducted at Ashiyana Orphanage in Madhyamgram, for 25 young girls on Thursday, 12th December, 2024. Dr Sutapa Konar, who has been doing Urjo's Pediatric Health Camps on a regular basis ( and we are grateful for her support), did the health check up along with dental check up and Urjo volunteers assisted her.The common ailments were malnourishment and worms but there were few instances of common cough and cold. Dr Konar felt that there was an overall improvement of general health among the girls. Free medicines were also distributed.
On 12th December,2024 members visited the Urjo Sewing School at Aashiyana Orphanage, Madhyamgram to get an update on the progress of the students in the Sewing School and discuss the way forward. The girls have made good progress and learnt quite a few items (in small sizes), in spite of the time constraint due to their exams and studies. It was decided that upto March 2025, they will focus on fine tuning the making of general size salwar/churidar kurtas. For this Urjo would provide them with cotton saris and other stitching materials.
Urjo conducted its 9th Pediatric Health Camp at Baghbazar Sarada Prathomik Vidyalaya, Baghbazar on Friday 15th November, 2024.There were 38 students ( 26 girls and 12 boys) who attend school from the nearby slums.

3rd Event on 7th October, 2024 was adda and lunch with Mashimas of Apanghar
Urjo members spent some quality time with 16 Mashimas of Apanghar and treated them to lunch. Two members gifted nighties and bedsheet sets, respectively, to the Mashimas. It was an afternoon well spent and it was heartening to see the smile on their faces.
Second Event on 6th October, 2024 was distribution of food packets to 50 differently abled kids
Urjo, along with Aneshwan, another NGO (also working for upliftment of the underprivileged), distributed 50 food packets to differently abled kids at Birpara in North Kolkata. Several Urjo members were present to give away the packets.
First Event on 5th October, 2024 was donation to Kzarvani Foundation
In line with its motto of 'Bhalo Theko, bhalo rekho', Urjo has planned three Pujo Events to spread cheer and joy among the underprivileged , primarily elderly ladies and children.
Urjo had its AGM for FY 2024-25 on 20th September, 2024 at Hotel Gallery 67, Ultadanga. 33 members attended and the meeting was very interactive and fruitful.

A few Urjo members participated in Kala Utsav 2024 under Urjo's banner. The exhibition was from 20th to 26th August,2024 at Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata.
A few members of Urjo visited Nijoloy on 25th July,2024 and distributed spectacles to 15 girls and elderly ladies who had been prescribed powered glasses during the Eye Camp held on 3rd July, 2024. Urjo members also donated clothes for the residents of Nijoloy.
Urjo, jointly with Kolkata Menopause Society (KMS) and The Bengal Obstetric & Gynaecological Society (BOGS), organised a Health Camp at Bhalobasa Old Age Home, Joka, on Sunday, 25th August, 2024. Health check up was done for 23 elderly ladies of the Home.
Urjo distributed school kits to school and college going students of Nijoloy, in accordance with its motto of Empowering Women through education. The various items distributed were School bags, Geometry Boxes, Blue & black Pens, Water bottle, Pencil Box, Copies (White page & Lined ones), Channel Files and Practical Copies.
URJO and Kolkata Menopause Society jointly celebrated International Yoga Day on 21st June, 2024 at Mags Medical Research Centre ,Salt Lake ,Kolkata. Dr Ratnabali Chakraborty, Urjo's Founder President, welcomed the guests. Dr Bipasha Sen and Dr Arnab Basak addressed the members and emphasized on the need for 40 plus women to do yoga on a regular basis
Urjo successfully conducted an Eye Camp at Nijoloy, Madhyamgram, on Wednesday, 3rd July,2024. Dr Moumita Roy, Consultant Opthalmologist and Eye Surgeon, along with her team, did the eye check up for 37 residents of Nijoloy. Out of them 8 were advised further check up at a clinic and a few others were prescribed spectacles with lens power ( measured at the venue)
Along with the Pediatric Health Camp on 14th June,2024, we also inspected the progress of the Urjo's Sewing Centre at Aashiyana. We were happy to note that the girls had made satisfactory progress. They have learnt to make the kurta and will now be taught to make the salwar.
Urjo conducted its 8th Pediatric Health Camp at Aashiyana , Madhyamgram, on 14th June, 2024. There were 25 boys upto 12 years (since Aashiyana had requested a health check up for the boys). Holi Celebration: On the occasion of Holi, the festival of colours, Urjo distributed Herbal Gulal and Pichkaris to the underprivileged children of the SOS Village at Salt Lake, Kolkata, on 22nd March,2024.
A few Urjo members visited Aashiyana on 18th March, 2024 to see the progress at the Urjo Sewing Center and discuss the way forward in a systematic and planned manner, with representatives of Aashiyana and the Trainer.
